GAZ-SYSTEM complies with the reporting and information obligations imposed on the Company by the EU REMIT Regulation*. To this end, the Company:

  • announces on the GIIP platform the information on the capacity and utilisation of facilities used for the transmission of natural gas (including planned and unplanned unavailability),
  • monitors market participants for possible manipulation and the use of inside information in transmission capacity allocation (including auctions on the GSA Platform) and in the balancing segment,
  • reporting fundamental and commercial data to the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).

GIIP is an ICT tool used for publishing internal information. It was developed by GAZ‑SYSTEM employees in accordance with the REMIT Regulation and ACER recommendations. By means of GIIP (here) the wholesale gas and electricity market participants can fulfil the obligation related to publishing inside information. In turn, the tool provides other market participants with equal access to relevant business information. Currently, the GIIP portfolio includes 11 customers in natural gas and electricity market.

GAZ-SYSTEM, as the operator of the national gas transmission system and the Polish section of the Yamal gas pipeline, is obliged to monitor commercial activity of market participants with respect to the conclusion of transmission capacity allocations as a result of auctions on the GSA Platform and their market behaviour within the balancing market activity. If potential violations of the prohibition on market manipulation and unauthorised use of inside information is detected, GAZ-SYSTEM is obliged to report the event in question to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.

Since the introduction of the obligation to report fundamental and commercial data under REMIT Regulation (April 2016), GAZ-SYSTEM has submitted to the European Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) a total of 68,993 reports.

2020 2021 2022 2023
Total number of reports sent to ACER since the data reporting obligation came into force (April 2016) 38,345 47,515 59,992 68,993
Number of reports submitted per year 9,983 9,170 12,393 9,001

Over the past year, as part of the electricity market reform, works on the review and amendment of REMIT continued. At the end of 2023, the European Council and the European Parliament reached a preliminary political agreement on the issue. The new rules are intended to improve protection of consumers and businesses against market manipulation. They will also strengthen the rules of responding to and preventing abuse.
