Strategic objectives

GAZ-SYSTEM's strategy is based on three pillars: core business, new business and ESG. The Company's vision is realised in four strategic areas.

Strategy implementation

GAZ-SYSTEM's ambition is to be an active participant in the energy transition of Poland and Europe. The Company strives to give impetus to the development of a low-carbon economy in the region, including natural gas and decarbonised gases.

Employees

Employees are key stakeholders for GAZ-SYSTEM, owing to whom the assumed operational objectives and, consequently, strategic tasks are successfully accomplished.

Investment projects in progress

GAZ-SYSTEM's plans for the next decade include thirty key projects that will increase the length of the transmission network from 12,121 km to over 13,000 km.

Investment projects completed in 2023

In 2023, GAZ-SYSTEM completed investment projects totalling 371 km with the capital expenditure amounting to over PLN 3 billion.

Biodiversity protection

In 2023, the length of gas transmission pipeline network passing through protected areas was 3,631 km, which constitutes 29.2 % of the total transmission network.

Emissions

GAZ-SYSTEM is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, thus contributing to the achievement of the EU climate targets. The Company's target is to reduce net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions in relation to the volume of gas transported: 55% by 2025 and 70% by 2030 (relative to 2022 emissions).

Cooperation with local communities

Investment projects and maintenance of gas pipelines and other infrastructure elements are a major logistical and organisational challenge. In implementing these activities, GAZ-SYSTEM endeavours to exert as little impact on third-party property as possible.

Social and educational projects

Support for education is one of the pillars of GAZ-SYSTEM's corporate social responsibility. The Company has been pursuing the 'GAZ-SYSTEM for Education' program since 2020.

I am pleased to present to you GAZ-SYSTEM's 2023 Integrated Report. It provides a comprehensive summary of our activity in the areas of environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance.

Despite the numerous challenges we faced recently, including in particular the pending armed conflict at our eastern border, we continued our investment projects and intensified our work in the field of energy transition in line with Polish and EU priorities in the area of energy and climate policy.
